If you are from a state that borders one of the five great lakes, then you can officially refer to yourself as a G-Laker. Those from Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York can make this claim. No, Lake Champlain is not a great lake. Back off, Vermont.

Michigan has lots of lakes and lots of cottages, but the best lake is Bill’s Lake and the best cottage is the La Penna family cottage. I’m so certain of this that I made a book which features photographs of all the ceramic frogs, mounted jackrabbits, swimming trophies, 70’s boardgames, quilts, bad wallpaper, and other amazing details found only at this glorious retreat.
